Birds > Passerine > Great Reed Warbler Acrocephalus arundinaceus

info

Over the water, on reed lakes in the central part of the top reed, one can often see this water singing bird. It is so occupied with singing, that you can take photographs without much difficulty. Unfortunately, shooting from the edge with the correlation of its small size does not allow taking "anatomical" photos, showing the details of its feathering. So, again, we have to observe and find the most suitable place for the observation and wait patiently for satisfactory photos. It is slightly larger than a sparrow, its weight is less than 40 grams, with a wingspan of less than 30 cm.

Maybe I didn’t manage to take many pictures of the Great Reed Warbler on that occasion, but I succeeded in coming up so close to it that before the bird realized that his song was being recorded, the recording, which is now attached to this gallery, was made.

After an unsuccessful being on the watch in my hiding place I decided to take a walk along the lake. Great reed warblers, common reed buntings, the birds could be photographed with ease. Not far away two western marsh harriers were gathering material for a nest, but it was not so easy to capture them. I have added several pictures to the gallery.

Recently I have been devoting my time to making qualitative changes in my galleries. Documentary photos are to be replaced by better, more beautiful pictures. Lately I have managed to change the gallery of the Eurasian reed warbler, common chaffinch and icterine warbler.  During several mornings spent with great reed warblers on a lake I took pictures which have changed the previous gallery of this species.
