It is quite common for the Maltese conditions. Like in case of other species on Malta, there were great difficulties with photographing this bird. The bird’s tiny size and large distance it kept made it difficult to take satisfactory pictures.

At one time, my greatest goal was to photograph 1,000 bird species. After achieving that ambitious milestone, my priorities shifted. Now, the most important thing for me is improving the quality of my galleries – replacing documentary photos with good or very good images, and systematically adding species that are part of Poland’s native fauna. This focus on enhancing image quality has become my main photographic objective. This time, I succeeded with the Cetti's Warbler. Although it’s a common species – with a global population estimated at 10 to 20 million individuals – photographing it is far from easy. I’ve heard its distinctive song many times, but that’s usually where it ended. It’s a bit like with the Great Bittern, the Oriole, or the Garden Warbler – often heard, rarely seen. This time, luck was on my side – I managed to photograph a Cetti's Warbler just across from the Waldrapp colony (you can find the exact location in the ibis gallery). Unfortunately, the conditions weren’t ideal – the perspective wasn’t particularly favorable for photography – but after ten years of having just a single documentary photo of this species taken in Malta, I can finally upgrade the gallery to “good.” It’s a pity the bird is so elusive, because its behavior reminds me of the Wren – one of my favorite species.
