Birds > Owls > Little owl Athene noctua

info

At first glance it is an inconspicuous, small community, like many other in Poland. What distinguishes it is the fact that this location is favored by little owls. That makes it an amazing place. A daily life goes on, there are people wandering around, cars passing by, and not too far away little owls are flying and  hunting. Full harmony between civilization and the natural world, even symbiosis - we can say. Because of owl’s hunting the local rodent population is significantly diminished and the owls presence is not burdensome at all. When I stopped on a property and got out of the car, my first surprise and astonishment was an owl sitting on the roof of the house that I took a glimpse of. The little owl watched us and the arrangements we made for shooting. And again, such a close contact with nature, and what a bird - the owl species. When I tried to choose the best photos for the gallery to publish on my website it was really difficult to decide which are bad enough to eliminate. I also tried hard not to outnumber the  photos published, but after all never too much of a good thing. Besides, who knows when and whether the next opportunity to observe the bird will be possible, especially with the  scarcity of my free time and taking into account the rarity of the bird. And of course I am willing to watch other new species. The little owl is bigger than the Eurasian pygmy owl, but does not belong to the big owls. Its weight does not exceed 200 grams, with a wingspan of less than 60 centimeters. I invite you to look at...

Admittedly I went to Hungary for the Red-footed Falcons, but as the Little owl lives nearby, I couldn't deny myself to take some pictures, this time static ones. I also made a recording of the owl's voice.
