White-headed Stilt
Charadriiformes

The White-headed Stilt is fairly widely distributed in Australia. In the bush, even on small ponds, lakes or large water reservoirs black-winged stilts could be seen. Unfortunately, despite the fact that the background was varied which would be a good opportunity to take interesting pictures, they did not allow to approach close enough to take advantage of this situation. Photos were taken, but not as good as this interesting bird deserves. The range of distribution is Australia and New Zealand. Pied stilts are quite distinctive due to their long legs.

My output from this family of birds so far is two species, photographed in Thailand and Srilanka (chickadees). So not much. In Ecuador, I managed to photograph 8 species (antpittas)! They are difficult to photograph and without the help of local guides it would have been impossible. The guides had to spend a lot of time beforehand to make them an attraction for observers, photographers. They live naturally on the bottom of a tropical moist forest. They are small, secretive and difficult to see, let alone photograph.

Hummingbirds

Although I managed to capture many species of hummingbirds, you can find there one description of all 22 species photographed in Costa Rica together. This time my expedition took longer and the light was better, I had therefore an opportunity to take many dynamic pictures. It is interesting that driving around Costa Rica after traveling several kilometers there were species of hummingbirds completely different from those we could observe earlier.

White-necked Raven

This bird made an amazing impression on me. The majestic silhouette of the bird could be seen in Tanzania only once during the whole trip. This time we stayed at an altitude of 2,600 meters. The night was so cold that I woke up due to such low temperature shortly after five o'clock. It was still quite dark and reportedly one degree above zero. After a quarter or so a white-necked raven appeared. I slowly returned to a tent to take my camera and a brighter lens of 300, maybe I would be able to take a picture of this amazing bird, I thought.

Finally, after three years, I have made a trip to Africa again. This time my destination was Zambia and Botswana. The visit to Zambia was limited to two days, where the highlight of our plan was Victoria Falls. Of course, the remaining time from dawn to dusk was used for bird photography. From Livingston to the Botswana border is just an hour's drive, on a comfortable paved road. The border itself is a rather unusual place. Four countries - Zambia, Zimbabwe, Namibia and Botswana - border each other in one place.
