The story of the pied-billed grebe is similar to the story of the white-tufted grebe. Just a few documentary pictures initiate a gallery of this bird, and it is probably going to be like this for long. The bird occurs in both Americas. Its weight is 250-520 grams, and its wingspan is about 60 cm.

We moved west of Ulan Bator to a beautiful larch forest. The species appearing in front of our lenses changed at once. The Hume’s leaf warbler, olive-backed pipit and pine bunting. It was easier to record the sound of the pine bunting than to take a picture of this bird. It sang with a loudly resounding voice and thus the recording of the bird’s sound was created.

I attempted to photograph pink-footed geese  twice. Unfortunately they were so skittish and kept such a large distance that I was unable to take more shots than the ones presented here. I have no idea why, but I think it’s the only such a skittish bird species in Iceland. It is estimated that its population in Iceland is about 40-50 thousand couples. The pink-footed goose reaches 3.3 kilograms in weight, and its wingspan is up to 1.7 meters. Well, yet again the start-up gallery of a species begins with one documentary photo.
