Hummingbirds-text common to species photographed in Ecuador

We photographed in several placed on Costa Rica. In such a small country it is sometimes a matter of several dozen kilometers and one has to do with completely different species. The transportation was the biggest problem. The roads in Costa Rica do not belong to good ones, and in order to drive 80 kilometers we had to spend 3 hours in a car. We reached another photography spot. A new thing for us there was a morning photography session by a not very large white sheet, next to which a bulb was left for the night turned on. The light attracted insects all night.

My output from this family of birds so far is two species, photographed in Thailand and Srilanka (chickadees). So not much. In Ecuador, I managed to photograph 8 species (antpittas)! They are difficult to photograph and without the help of local guides it would have been impossible. The guides had to spend a lot of time beforehand to make them an attraction for observers, photographers. They live naturally on the bottom of a tropical moist forest. They are small, secretive and difficult to see, let alone photograph.

The plain-breasted dove quite commonly occurs in South America. Its weight does not exceed 50 grams and its body length reaches up to 16 cm. It lives in savannah and subtropical forests in the eastern part of Brazil and southern Argentina. The pictures were taken in the vicinity of the Iguasu waterfalls.
