In size it is similar to our kingfisher, although slightly smaller because weighs about 35-40 grams. When it comes to the behavior or feeding patterns they do not differ from each other. Fortunately, it allowed me to approach close enough to make me possible taking the pictures presented. In Australia the forest kingfisher only occurs in its north-eastern part. It also occurs in Indonesia and Papua New Guinea.

Finally I managed to photograph several species of weavers while in South Africa. This text is common to all them except the long-tailed widowbird and the grosbeak weaver. Encounters with the two species were so interesting, different from those with the other weavers, it had to be reflected in information in separate texts. These birds could be observed and photographed in such large number, because the number of their species and the abundance of individuals there in South Africa is shocking.

It occurs on a small area on the territory of South America, on the rocky coast of Argentina and Chile. It is a flightless bird of a large size. The weight of the Fuegian steamer duck can reach 7 kg, with a body length of 80 cm and a wingspan of 110 cm. The size of its wings does not allow the massive duck’s body to fly. Males are visibly bigger than females. Considering the uniqueness and a small area of occurrence of the duck, I have created this gallery although I managed to take only two pictures of this bird. The photos were taken from a boat, near Ushuaia.
