Indian Scops-Owl
Owls

It could only happen in Sri Lanka, to see four species of owls in one day! As a rule, the owls were found in the close neighbourhood of houses where Sri Lankan led their life. Some of them liked the rather high, densely branched shrub, a few meters from the entrance of the house. But it is always needed to be lucky enough to have "clean" space to take a picture, on which the bird is not covered by any branches.

Intermediate Egret
Casuariiformes

At first I thought it was just the Great Egret. But Hans noticed (thank you) that it was a different species of Herons. It is a pity that I did not know about it then, as gallery would now contain some more pictures, especially the Heron was not timid and photos presented here were taken without any camouflage.

Isabelline Shrike
Passerine

As we were driving through the Gobi Desert, suddenly, on the right side afar we spotted a few trees. We decided to check such a find. In this desert landscape the few trees were inhabited by several warblers and an isabelline shrike. Unfortunately the bird was very skittish and despite of our waiting and camouflage, the bird did not come towards us for a closer distance so that we could achieve better quality of our photos.

Isabelline wheatear
Passerine

The first attempt to photograph isabelline wheatear was a failure. A short meeting and one photo out of focus. It was the second attempt in the vast stony meadows, overgrown with grass and bushes, which was a success. Wheatear was quite interested in our presence and let us take pictures. And this time the scenery, the color of the light were fine. These few images captures the charm of the bird and the environment she lives in. Isabelline wheatear is slightly bigger than our wheatears and it is slightly less colored. In Poland it has been seen very rarely.
