Tropical Parula
Passerine

This is another species gallery which was incidentally created during an outdoor toucan shooting session. Traditionally everything ended up in just a few photos. It’s a pity as the bird’s coloring against the background of exotic plants of the rainforest could have finished with some really interesting pictures. The bird occurs in both Americas, from Texas in North America, through Mexico and Latin America to the northern part of Argentina. The body length of a tropical parula is 11 cm.

Tufted Duck
Anseriformes

A beautiful duck, but sadly quite rare in Poland. The Polish name of the bird “czernica” has perhaps something to do with the word “czarny” (Eng. “black”), and is due to its coloring. Male tufted ducks have black heads and chests with a touch of iridescent green. Females, as it often happens in nature, don’t have such an impressive plumage. The weight of the tufted duck does not exceed 1.5 kilograms, with a wingspan of about 70 centimeters.

Tufted tit-tyrant
Passerine

I wish I was able to take a more representative picture of this small passerine, in the tyrant flycatcher family. Its crest, always conspicuous and beautifully exposed against Patagonian green, gives even more charm to it. The tufted tit-tyrant resembles our goldcrest in terms of size. Its weight is about 6 grams, with a wingspan of several centimeters. It is found only in South America in Argentina, Chile and Colombia.

Tui
Passerine

The beautiful voice of tui led me to its habitat. I gravitated to its dwelling, attracted to the melody of its song. The bushes and thickets can be entered without anxiety in New Zealand, as neither venomous serpents nor insects live there. In comparison with Australia, New Zealand, like Poland, appears to pose no dangers to the visitor. Amidst the trees, one can observe a few tuis and New Zealand pigeons  The tuis belong to the endemic group of honeyeaters that inhabit the northern island of New Zealand only.
