I have managed to take the first pictures of a Greater Scaup while on my winter trip to Świnoujście, in February 2013. Most probable place was a brakewater near the city's distinctive windmill. Sitting calmly, protected from the wind I could observe how the water birds were getting more comfortable gradually swimming by closer. Greater Scaup, as you can see on the pictures in the gallery, were flying by in little flocks. Unfortunately, they landed too far for my expectations.

I have created a gallery of the greater spotted eagle despite poor quality of pictures. The same was with the lesser spotted eagle, when the gallery was created based on a few documentary photos. There is admittedly much to do but some changes in the way the beauty of the bird is presented have already been introduced. Maybe it will be similar with the greater spotted eagle? There will be an opportunity to make changes in this gallery too. In Poland this bird is exceptionally rare, but still belongs to breeding birds. Well, at least there’s something to start with…

Well, swallows are a difficult object to photograph, not to mention the pictures of these birds in flight. So far on my site seven species of swallows have their galleries and none of them is rated as 4-star. After returning from South Africa I counted 4 new species and, interestingly, I was able to record the voice of a greater striped-swallow.

In Poland it can be mostly seen during its flights. Maybe that’s the reason why it doesn’t have too many photos in my gallery. The greater white-fronted goose can weigh more than 3 kilograms, with a wingspan of over one meter. So, it is a large bird, but due to its short occurrence time in our country and my modest time reserves, it will be difficult for me to develop the photo gallery of this species.

Last minute news- Dominican Republic – 11/2021

Its name comes from its menu. Of course the Figbird feeds not only on figs but also other fruits and insects. It belongs to the family of orioles. Its weight is about 120 grams and body length is about 27 centimeters. The Figbird is therefore greater than our oriole. There is a very clear sexual dimorphism in this species.
Males have a fairly deep red rim of the eye, females are brown and white. Thus, in the presented pictures I managed to photograph both a male and a female.

Although I managed to capture many species of hummingbirds, you can find there one description of all 22 species photographed in Costa Rica together. This time my expedition took longer and the light was better, I had therefore an opportunity to take many dynamic pictures. It is interesting that driving around Costa Rica after traveling several kilometers there were species of hummingbirds completely different from those we could observe earlier.
