Well, I have already had opportunities to photograph birds in various places and strange circumstances, but having been protected by a security guard equipped with a kalashnikov - not so far. But everything has to happen for the first time. This situation took place in Tanzania. We came to the campsite, which this time turned out to be a small lawn located among trees at an altitude of about 2,600 meters. Well, except for grass and beautiful greenery there was no tourist infrastructure.

To more than a dozen species of herons on my website the largest of herons – the goliath heron is added. Although this may sound rather bombastically because its size can be seen only in direct confrontation with other herons. The weight of the goliath heron reaches 5 kilograms and the wingspan is up to 2.3 meters. She was very cautious and always, as far as my expectations, too far away.

Its coloration is similar to hummingbirds I had taken not so long ago in Costa Rica. In terms of weight and distribution they are similar to them also, therefore, such association with hummingbirds. Birds were foraging in the inflorescence and there were several opportunities to take pictures. Of course, males are much more colorful than females. Their weight does not exceed 10 grams. Gould's sunbirds occur in Burma, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India, Laos, Nepal and Thailand.
