Apostlebird
Passerine

After I had identified this species and found the Polish name of this bird I was curious why it was given such a name - the Apostlebird. According to the information I have found the Apostle is a gregarious bird and its flock mostly consists of just 12 specimens. So biblical roots of the name are limited to the connotations associated with the herd behavior of the bird and the number of apostles.

Aquatic warbler
Passerine

Aquatic warbler finally went to my collection Polish fauna. Finally because i've already tried to photograph it, but my biggest achievement to this moment was hearing the voice of a male without photographing it. Without help and kindness it would still be my plan to photograph Aquatic warbler. Many thanks to Mrs. Ewa and Ania and Mr. Waldek because only thanks to their help, knowledge and care for Aquatic Warbler breeding grounds, the presented gallery was created. I was also a bit lucky.

Arabian bustard
Bustards

I was fascinated about bustards for years. I am satisfied with adding new species of bustard family. It doesn’t differ much from kori bustard. It looks and behaves similar. It moves nobly in order to find food. We could follow him easily, keeping distance. When we wanted to short that distance it stared to move faster to be safe. It isn't willing to fly.  We met arabian bustard 3 times and it helped me creating new gallery.

Arctic fox
Mammals

The best photos of the arctic fox were taken while photographing in a colony of little auks. The fox approached so closely that it did not fit into the frame. I think it was very surprised by our presence on the rocky slope. Later, we saw the fox several times. Interestingly, not far from the places where people used to live foxes were not easily startled, while we also observed this animal on an uninhabited island and there it run away swiftly. Apparently, this fox species holds a fertility record among mammals when it comes to the birth rate.

Arctic redpoll
Passerine

It occurs in Europe, only in the northern part. There I found it - in northern Norway. Unfortunately, the contact was only once and it was not long, so I could take only few images to open the gallery of this species on my website. Very similar to the common redpoll.  For me, the most distinctive difference between these species is the beak  that is much smaller in case of the arctic redpoll. Its weight reaches 15 grams, and its wingspan is several centimeters.

Arctic Tern
Charadriiformes

Type of a picture initiating the gallery or a “contact” picture. It was taken near Gdańsk and let's hope it will come by to see its change to a better and more interesting one. Wingspan of an Arctic Tern is around 80 centimeters with a weight of around 100 grams.

Arctic Warbler
Passerine

I managed to photograph several species of warblers while on a trip to Thailand. It was not easy taking into account all the difficulties in photographing them. Mainly they stayed quite far in the treetops and to make matters worse they were very busy. Often before the camera focused automatically, the bird had gone. Their small size (about 10 grams - three times lighter than a sparrow) did not make the task any easier. Birds often were hidden behind needles or leaves. Taking pictures was only one of the difficulties but the real problem was how to identify them.

Argentine giant tegu
Reptiles

The first contact with rainforest nature was shocking as I saw a sizeable lizard moving down the hotel lawn. It was an Argentine black and white tegu. The length of this lizard’s body reaches up to 1.5 m, with a weight of up to 7 kg. It was moving very peacefully and eating fruit scattered on the lawn. There was one more encounter with this lizard, while I was admiring Iguazu waterfalls. A tegu trod peacefully among confused tourists. The species occurs in north Argentina, Columbia, Venezuela, Paraguay, Uruguay and Guyana.
