Hadeda ibis
Casuariiformes

This is not a species commonly found on Fuerteventura, but I discovered quite interesting place in the area of Morro Jable where I managed to photograph several species, including the Hadeda Ibis. Ibises and Cattle Egrets  seemed to know that artificial lawn irrigation at sunrise makes the insects that live in these lawns crawl out onto the surface, and are a a real treat for the taste. When ibises were approaching it was clear for everyone in the area, and therefore I did not need to look for them, just wait patiently.

Hairy Woodp
Piciformes

Photos of the Hairy Woodpecker, just like those of the Downy Woodpecker were taken in the area of Montreal where the birds used to be fed in winter. This Woodpecker occurs only in North America, in terms of size it resembles our Middle Spotted Woodpecker.

Handsome Francolin
Galliformes

If I managed to avoid mistakes in identification, seven species of francolines were photographed in Tanzania (handsome francolin, red-necked spurfowl, crested francolin, coqui francolin, Hildebrandt's francolin, grey-breasted spurfowl and yellow-necked spurfowl - a passage common to all these galleries). We joked that a day without a francolin was a lost day. They were appearing every so often and were quite skittish. Sometimes patience paid off as the birds came out of the thicket and better photos were taken.

Harbor seal
Mammals

The story connected with taking the pictures of the seal presented here is quite funny. In order to approach the seals as close as possible it was necessary to walk through a stony beach which was periodically flooded. The walk was quite tiresome and lasted several dozen minutes, but I was most surprised when, after a more than an hour’s shooting session with seals it turned out that all the paths leading back had been flooded by a tide. A quick decision or the things are going to get even worse with each single minute.

Hardhead

Harlequin duck
Anseriformes

In Iceland it happened to me to run into  the Harlequin Duck a few times. Always in the mainstream of quite swift rivers. Sometimes I could see them basking on coastal rocks. It is a colorful duck reaching to 800 grams of weight and up to 70 cm of wingspan. The best photos were taken during the shooting red-throated loon, where harlequin ducks flowed a little further. Fortunately I managed to spot  it, as my eyes was fixed on loons so much that common eiders sitting nearby I noticed only when leaving the bank of the river.
