Natal Francolin
Galliformes
In South Africa there are probably 8 species of francolins that are very similar in their behavior to our partridges. We could see them always for the second or two, and that was it when it comes to possibility of shooting these timid birds. I do not have separate stories for each species of francolins, because the scenario was always the same. But it is worth mentioning that the natal francolin and the grey-winged francolin are endemic to South Africa, so the value of these galleries increases, and probably these galleries will never change. Neotropic Cormorant
Suliformes
It is much smaller than our cormorant. Its weight does not exceed 1,5 kilograms. Just as a reminder, our cormorant (Phalacrocorax carbo) reaches up to 3,5 kilograms in weight. These pictures were taken by the Pacific Ocean, where I took photographs of the brown pelican, osprey and olivaceous cormorant. The olivaceous cormorant appears in the southern part of North America, on Cuba, Costa Rica and in Nicaragua. Unfortunately the birds were quite skittish and would flow away more often than pelicans. New Holland Honeyeater
Passerine
Another representative of honeyeaters. It can be found throughout eastern Australia. I fortuitously managed to photograph it in the Blue Mountains. The adjective “fortuitously” is used deliberately. The honeyeater was sitting surrounded by lush vegetation and it was hard to find a piece of space not covered with any plant in order to take a photo. But I succeed after a few attempts. There is no sexual dimorphism in this species. Females are slightly smaller. Couples may breed even three times a year. Bardzo dobre |
