Birds > Casuariiformes > Little Egret Egretta garzetta

info

Similarly to bustards, Polish Czapla Nadobna is Little Egret. And it really is much smaller than the Great Egret or Grey Heron, practically one time smaller. Weight of a Little Egret is around 0.5 kilogram with a wingspan of around 1 meter. Watching someone else's photo galleries of different kinds of egrets (Great Egret, Little Egret) you pay much attention to the differences in the appearance. Putting them both on one picture shows the difference between them unequivocally. Pictures are taken in an unattractive “burned” light and from a significant distance, but emotions this species arouses in me and because it is so rare I could not resist showing it to you. In Poland Little Egrets are rare and very timid. Presented pictures were taken during the workshops with bee-eaters. As I wrote in the description of that species, position was not optimal with the conditions, but being repaid with the pictures of a herd of Little Egrets was a high recompensation. Photographing bee-eaters, because of their dynamic flight, you are concentrated on a small fragment of the outdoor, the rest is limited by the masking booth. If it wasn't for my looking over the right arm and resetting the gear by 90 degrees presented pictures would have not been made. Egrets allowed us to admire them for almost an hour. Admire, as they are, in my aesthetic sense, beautiful. Snowy white color with “a cowlick” of delicate feathers, slow, subtle, focused moves of the egret give you a notion of a perfect sterility of this bird. Let's hope that next pictures will fully show the charm and beauty of this egret, especially when it is possible in our country. For this it will be necessary to have, besides an egret itself, a morning light and a reduction of the distance while photographing. Time will tell if it will be possible to fully expose this species.
Last minute news Turkay - 04-2014
Until now, my gallery of the Little Egret is made up of the photos I took in Spain. Unfortunately the distance and light did not let me take better pictures. Still, I added several new photos as a souvenir. They will remain here until I get better quality photos. The Little Egret was feeding serenely on the bank of a river and, like in Spain, some Great Egrets were visible in the vicinity.
Last minute news Turkay2 - 09-2014 .
This time I was not able to take particularly interesting pictures of the little egret in Turkey. Several images enrich the existing, a bit modest gallery of this species. Photos were taken from quite a strange place, because I was much higher than the egret, therefore such a view. Little egrets were foraging among the great egrets, squacco herons, eurasian spoonbills and shelducks. I have added a few pictures.
