Redstart
Passerine

A Redstart, especially its male, is a grateful object to photograph. Female can be easily mistaken for a Black Redstart. Redstart occurs quite numerously in Poland on allotment gardens. My pictures were taken right there, during the barbecue. So lurking and numerous attempts to take a photo, in this case, were not related to any renunciations, despite many people walking around. As it befits to a small sized birds, Redstart is quite frisky, especially at the time of feeding its younglings. That is why you need to be patient photographing this colorful bird.

Redwing
Passerine

In Iceland it is quite common. It is interesting that outside human settlements the Redwing was very skittish, but there were more urbanized places where it was possible to shoot them from a distance of a few or  dozen meters. Fortunately I made many attempts which resulted in this quite interesting gallery reflecting the charm of this bird. In case of this species pictures are only the part of the gallery. Redwings sing beautifully and as they occur so commonly it was no problem to record them.

Reed Bunting
Passerine

I have managed to photograph a Reed Bunting twice in almost the same place, but in the following years. Once it was a male, once a female. They are very timid. On the occasion of the second session I was honestly masked and “hunting” for a Water Rail. Despite the fact that I was photographing it from a 6-7 meters distance, almost still, it looked at me for a while allowing to take couple of pictures before it flew away. Water Rail did not appear. It was a consolation and a reward for the effort put in for timing and prepraing the session. It is smaller that a Sparrow.

Mammals

The presented photos of reindeers were taken during my stay in Norway. They were standing on the road by the lake, paying no attention to the fact that they were photographed. They fled only when they realized I was approaching them. Somewhat similar situation when it comes to does’ behavior, except that even though roe deers are smaller than reindeer, they won’t allow you to approach them too closely.

Resplendent Quetzal
Trogons

It took me a lot of time to decide which bird would be the best for introductory text to  attach to when describing my trip to Costa Rica. Should it be a clay-colored  thrush, which is the national bird of Costa Rica, or one of toucans I managed to photograph there, or may be  an amazing Montezuma  oropendola? The final choice was the resplendent quetzal which is the national bird of Guatemala. An amazing bird of paradise, which is not easy to photograph, even in the place of its occurrence.
